Modelled seated upon a rocky base, with her left leg tucked under her kneeling right leg, holding a scroll in her left hand and a strand of pearls in her right, clad in elaborate robes of various patterns leaving the bare chest covered in jewels, her face with elongated eyes and a serene smile forming a benevolent expression, her black hair arranged in a bun secured by a gold pin, beside her a natural rocky plinth supporting a box of albums and a gilt vase, the flat base unglazed and with an aperture and an impressed seal mark. Period: first half of the 20th century. Height c. 37 cm. Provenance The collection of Herbert Küttim (1901-1984). Küttim grew up in Estonia. During the Second World War, he and his family fled the country and settled in Sweden in 1944. An entrepreneur involved in many different ventures, Küttim discovered his passion for porcelain during a trip to London in the 1950s. Over the following decades, he returned to London numerous times, loading his blue Chevrolet with antique porcelain to bring back to Sweden. Some pieces remained in his personal collection, while others were sold. Thence by descent within the family. Condition Some wear, a chip/defect to one finger, small glaze chips/enamel losses. Examined under UV-light.
