Of various geometric shapes and sizes, forming a square like a puzzle, each finely painted in famille rose enamels with a figural scene within a garden landscape, the cavetto with a continuous border of prunus and cracked ice in shades of blue enamel, the outer edges painted with floral sprays, the foot ring and recessed base glazed, each piece has been fired rim down and gilt, hardwood box and cover. Period: late Qing (1644-1912). Measurements c. 26.5 x 26.5 cm, box c. 28.5 x 28.5 x 8 cm. Provenance The collection of Herbert Küttim (1901-1984). Küttim grew up in Estonia. During the Second World War, he and his family fled the country and settled in Sweden in 1944. An entrepreneur involved in many different ventures, Küttim discovered his passion for porcelain during a trip to London in the 1950s. Over the following decades, he returned to London numerous times, loading his blue Chevrolet with antique porcelain to bring back to Sweden. Some pieces remained in his personal collection, while others were sold. Thence by descent within the family. Condition Minor wear, firing spots, one with a chip.
